The Animal Book is the story of two sisters who exist in a threatening world of giant machinery;
a city of cog-mechanized buildings, where cars cruise shark-like through the streets. Even their sun is a giant lightbulb and the moon; a stud-riveted mirror. When a snatched retreat to the sisters' broken playground is interrupted by a flying book, one of them is offered an opportunity to escape the world for a better life. |

| A labour of love for six months, this stop-motion animation took a little over four and a half of those months to build, shoot, and post-produce. Shot in Cinema quality HD, The Animal Book has found it's first home at the Cannes Film Festival as part of the festival's short film programme. |

Natalie Ann Hinchley has been animating for four years, being awarded a D&AD Yellow Pencil for her 60 second promotional animation for Channel 4's ideas factory and nominated for two 2006 British Animation Awards. Her films have also appeared in arts events such as Birmingham's Arts Fest in 2004, 2005 and 2006, Rolling Stock Film Festival, 7 Inch Cinema and London's Super Shorts Film Festival. Since then, she produced 'Onions', an unusual insight into the perils of growing vegetables, and has recently completed her third collaborative project with musicians Voodoo Kazoo. |

With over ten years experience in film and television, Chris Randall spent four of those recent years working exclusively as a designer and stop-motion animator for CITV, culminating in the creation of 'The Junkyard Jungle', a promotional vehicle for the channel told through the voices of a talking banana skin, a dead fish and a sparkplug. On the back of this, the 'Chrismice' were born as the channel's Christmas campaign, followed by three more mice, 'Hickory, Dickory and Dock' who carried the channel's pre-school part of the schedule. All three bodies of work won World Gold in their respective categories at the international Promax/BDA Design Awards in the US. Chris is also one of Second Home's founding partners. |

At twelve months old, Second Home Studios is the first of it’s kind in the Midlands region, having both the experience and passion to undertake stop-motion animation of this scale. The Studio caters for a number of animation and visual effects scenarios for a variety of creative outlets.
As a producing company, ‘The Animal Book’ represents what will hopefully be the first of many rewarding collaborations. |
